Our Story
An independent firm, founded on the conviction that concentrated capital can be a tool of redemption — and that faith-driven institutions deserve a partner who shares their worldview.
A firm built to serve differently
After 20 years at large firms, Ross Roggensack realized that an independent consulting firm could potentially better serve the faith-based foundations and endowments he cared about most.
Armed with a handful of clients, an analyst, and an office in his attic, Ross founded Oak City Consulting in early 2012. Later that year, Melissa Smith joined the firm, bringing years of public accounting experience — and structure — to the young practice.
The next nine years included steady growth, three more additions to the team, and an expanding understanding of the way God can use concentrated pools of capital for impact.
A Steady Course
An Attic and a Conviction
After two decades in institutional consulting, Ross Roggensack founds Oak City with a handful of clients, a single analyst, and an office in his attic — determined to serve faith-based institutions as an independent fiduciary.
Structure Arrives
Melissa Smith joins the firm, bringing years of public accounting experience from Grant Thornton and the operational discipline that would let the practice scale with integrity.
Steady Growth
Nine years of measured growth: three more additions to the team, deeper client relationships, and a maturing conviction about how concentrated capital can be deployed for redemptive impact.
